Welcome to Optimist Club of Greater Vienna!


 
The Optimist Club of Greater Vienna is a group of volunteers who donate their time, energy, and funds to serve the youth of the greater Vienna community including students at James Madison, George Marshall and Oakton High Schools and their feeder pyramids. This website provides an overview of our purpose and our many activities. The calendar at the tab above shows our schedule for the 2008-2009 Optimist Year. Please browse the site and contact us at info@optimistclubofgreatervienna.org if you need additional information.


Fourth Annual Walk for Growing Hope

Thanks to all who participated in our 2009 Fourth Annual Walk for Growing Hope. Due to the support of the Optimists, the sponsors, the musicians, Arla the "face painter", the walkers and the dozens of local businesses and restuarants that provided food and gift certificates, Growing Hope will have another year without financial worries. The total support donations for this year is $30,001 and for our support over the years is $146,013.  For additional details see our Childhood Cancer Campaign page.

On 5 August Our Club Honored Special Guest Speaker Patricia Donnelly, 
Director of the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia

She briefed our club on the urgency of supporting the Literacy Council both financially and through volunteering our time in working with the Council to battle the barrier of illiteracy to success in life.

Looking for new member volunteers
The Optimists of Greater Vienna are looking for new member volunteers. We meet at the Marco Polo Restaurant in Vienna at 7PM on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. If you like to have fun, while supporting the young people in the Greater Vienna community, come join us.
