Throughout the Optimist year, the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna provides recognition and support to individual students in four programs.
As a part of Youth Appreciation Week activities, the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna presents the Carol Waite Brennan Youth Appreciation Awards. The awards, named in memory of Carol Waite Brennan, a Past President of the Club, are bestowed upon a senior male and female student at Madison, Marshall and Oakton High Schools. Based on donations by to former members of the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna, the club provides Vocational Scholarships to young people in the Greater Vienna area who want to pursue training for a vocation/trade after high school graduation. For additional information, click here.
The Youth Awards of Excellence Program recognizes junior class students from Madison, Marshall, and Oakton High Schools in the areas of academics, fine arts, citizenship, science, technology, and athletics. For additional information, click here.
The Helping Hands Program acknowledges a sixth grader from each of the 11 elementary schools in the club’s service area that goes “above and beyond” in helping to support school-related and extracurricular activities. For additional information, click here.
