The Academic Competitions described here are sponsored by and based on rules established by Optimist International. Annually, Optimist International announces the topics and contests are held at the club, District (state) and International levels.
The Essay Contest is open to any child under 19 years of age. The Optimist Club of Greater Vienna normally solicits entrants during the November-December time frame from high school students. Click here for further information.
The Oratorical Contest is open to children under the age of 16. Contestants prepare a 4-5 minute talk on the announced topic and are judged on content and presentation. Click here for further information.
The Communication Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is the Oratorical Contest equivalent for kids that are hearing impaired. Contestants may use sign language or assisted speech. Click here for further information.
