As a part of Youth Appreciation Week activities, the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna presents the Carol Waite Brennan Youth Appreciation Awards. The awards, named in memory of Carol Waite Brennan, a Past President of the Club, are bestowed upon a senior male and female student at Madison, Marshall and Oakton High Schools. The Youth Appreciation Award recognizes young people in the greater Vienna community for their outstanding efforts in academics, the arts, athletics, and community service work based on nominations from each of the schools.  The Optimist Club provides each awardee a scholarship to the college or university the student plans to attend.  For the 2008-2009 school year the Optimist Club increased the award from $750 to $1,000.
