The Youth Awards of Excellence Program was initiated by Past Club President T.R. Cook to recognize junior class students from Madison, Marshall, and Oakton High Schools in the areas of academics, fine arts, citizenship, science, technology, and athletics. Nominations are made in each category by the administration at each school and presentations are made before families and friends at a ceremony at one of the schools.  This year there were 85 outstanding juniors nominated from these schools.

Each nominee is awarded a certificate.  The outstanding individual in each category, as determined by a committee of Optimist members, is presented a plaque.
