Welcome to the kick-off for the 5th Annual Walk for Growing Hope & Family Fun Day!
The Optimist Club of Greater Vienna sponsors the Walk as a fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer Campaign. This year’s 2010 event will be held on September 25, from 9:00 am to noon. The location is the same as in previous years: the Vienna mural near Church and Dominion Streets NE across the parking lot from the Vienna Train Station. Just look for the big tent and the MOON BOUNCE!
The Moon Bounce is just one of the new features of this year’s Walk, along with a Dunk Tank, Balloonist, Story Lady, Fortune Teller and Silent Auction. As always, we will have Live Music, Refreshments, a Raffle, T-shirts and the Walk along the W&OD Trail. The walk itself will be shortened to just three miles so that everyone will have plenty of time to enjoy the extra activities at the tent.
Growing Hope is a non-profit organization located in Northern Virginia, and it receives 75% of the proceeds from our Walk. It is a very special program that provides educational, social and financial support for children with cancer and their families. The childhood cancer research program at Johns Hopkins University & Medical Center receives the remaining 25%. Every dollar we raise stays right here in our area and benefits us all. Since the beginning in 2006, we have raised more than $145,000.
The Optimist Club invites you, your family and friends to come on September 25th for this wonderful and inspiring event. We promise you’ll have fun! You may get your face painted or dunk your favorite person in the dunk tank or even win a raffle or silent auction prize. We’re Optimists - anything is possible!
